BIGGER THINGS: DJ Mia Moretti’s Lollapalooza-inspired makeup collection for MAC is just the cusp of her relationship with the cosmetics brand. In 2015, she’ll launch a full line inspired by her whimsical style. “We’re doing a line that I designed and it’s coming out at the end of March,” Moretti said at a dinner party thrown for her at Fulton Market Kitchen in Chicago’s Meatpacking District. Among those in attendance were her musician friends Warpaint and Bebe Rexha, both of which are performing at the festival, and Chicago’s very own Wild Belle. This story first appeared in the August 13, 2014 issue of WWD. “I’ve been working on the line.
I go up to the laboratory and I’m working on the colors, everything from the packaging to the names,” explained Moretti, who also said the new collection will be totally different from her Lollapalooza line. “It’s a different take. Still the same principle — fresh, easy and fun. Fashion and style should be easy and not too forced.”.
To Amy Schumer, fashion is no laughing matter. Schumer, along with Leesa Evans, a celebrity stylist and costume designer, is launching Le Cloud, a size inclusive line of wardrobe essentials for women of all shapes and sizes at Saks Off 5th. But why is the 37-year-old comic breaking into fashion? “My instinct is to be authentic and to empower women of all ages and sizes to do the same. We are making beautiful, comfortable and wearable clothing that is accessible to real women.
A Le Cloud customer will feel confident and powerful when wearing these pieces. We take our product seriously, but not ourselves,” Schumer tells @lisajlockwood. #wwdnews #amyschumer #leesaevans. “Thirty years of brand building evaporated in 48 hours and employees are the ones who will pay the price,” said Alessandro Maria Ferreri, chief executive officer and owner of The Style Gate consulting firm, referring to the media and business firestorm that has hit Dolce & Gabbana. “It’s a landslide of colossal dimensions, and the speed of it all is frightening.” More on the fallout of the brand, following the head-spinning Dolce & Gabbana controversy on WWD.com.

The accolade, which was previously given to the likes of Karl Lagerfeld, Donatella Versace, Manolo Blahnik and Ralph Lauren, celebrates an individual’s “overwhelming creative contribution” to the industry. Prada’s intuition for the zeitgeist and her blending of multiple creative disciplines including fashion design, art and architecture since the beginning have made her a pioneering force in our industry,” said Stephane Phair, the BFC’s newly appointed chairman. #wwdnews #prada #muicciaprada #britishfashioncouncil.
