Type-c Os Usb 3x Port Adapter For Mac
I am amazed that nobody has reviewed this hub adapter yet. You have to realize, I spent weeks trying to find a hub like this after I bought my first Macbook.
I wanted a hub that offered USB and Ethernet connections while providing USB-C power pass-through. If you look on Amazon, it's almost impossible to find a product that offers all this. Some offer USB but no power pass-through. Some offer Ethernet, but no USB connections. Some offer USB and Ethernet but no power pass-through. So, I figured I'd look on Monoprice and lo' and behold, there is actually an adapter that offers it all.
I am using it right now on my 12' Macbook. I have a gigabit ethernet and a USB thumb drive plugged in to the side of the laptop.

There is also power still being supplied to my Macbook. It's amazing! The ethernet speed is exactly where it should be. No slow downs. But here's the ultimate test of how well this hub works.and I know because I just returned a Chinese brand hub that had almost all the same features (minus the ethernet plug). I jiggled the cable. No disconnection.
The hub I just returned automatically disconnected the power when accidentally jiggled. This Monoprice adapter does not do it. This is a solidly built adapter. Take my word for it, this is a quality built hub not some cheap knock-off.
PROS: USB-C adapter that offers 3 USB inputs, Ethernet connection and USB-C Power Pass-through. Transcend 480gb jetdrive 825 pcie ssd upgrade kit for mac. CONS: None, other than I wish it was available in a darker color to match my Macbook.
However, not a deal-breaker by any means. Not sure if this is the fault of the adapter or not but my MacBook Pro (Late 2016) will not wake from sleep in clamshell mode while using this adapter. It seems like the adapter shuts off or the system disconnects it after going to sleep for a period. This stops the adapter from charging and if your external keyboard is connected to the adapter, it won't trigger the MBP to wake. I was able to use a bluetooth mouse to wake the MBP but it’s hit or miss getting it to recognize or wake the adapter.
The only solution seems to be to set Energy Saver to “Prevent computer from sleeping automatically when display is off”. While the computer is awake, this adapter is great and there are no drivers needed. Once it goes to sleep, it’s almost useless until the MBP recognizes it again.
